Covid-19
The Final Touch
During the terrifying days of COVID, the streets of the city emptied. Fear, despair, and emptiness hung in the air, and I stood at the edge of life itself. Every day, news arrived—another person was gone. My responsibility was to show the last respect to those whose breaths had ended.
Through my work with the Quantum Foundation, I took on the task of washing the bodies of COVID victims. Standing before each lifeless body, I did more than cleanse their physical forms; I ensured their final journey was treated with dignity. The work was never easy. Cold hands, breathless faces, the silent exhale of life—it all taught me an unspoken lesson.
With every body I washed, I silently thought, “You are not just gone; your humanity, your story, will live on.” This experience showed me that serving humanity is greater than mere cleanliness. As my hands cared for their bodies, it felt like I was touching not only their physical selves but also the honor of their final moments.
The Quantum Foundation is more than an organization—it is a place of learning, where death, humanity, and respect intertwine and taught me to see life differently.
Day by day, I gave the final touch, learning each time that the work often unseen is sometimes the most profoundly human.
