Naima Perveen, EFIAP, QPSA, Hon.PESGSPC, GPA.PESGSPC, is an award-winning photographer from Bangladesh whose work spans portraiture, street, lifestyle, and visual storytelling. Born in Khulna in 1960, she discovered photography later in life, beginning her journey in 2006. Since then, she has built an inspiring career as a freelance photographer, storyteller, and visual artist, living and working in Chattogram.<\/p>\n
Her lens seeks more than beauty\u2014it searches for truth, human connection, and the hidden narratives of daily life. Whether photographing the intimacy of family bonds, the rhythm of the streets, or the quiet strength of nature, Naima\u2019s images embody empathy and authenticity. She believes photography is not only about capturing what is seen but also about revealing what is often overlooked.<\/p>\n
A Journey Through Recognition<\/strong><\/p>\n Naima\u2019s passion for visual storytelling has earned her international acclaim. Her works have been published in prestigious platforms including Smithsonian Magazine<\/em> (2011\u20132013), Reader\u2019s Digest Asia<\/em> (2011), and Emaho Magazine<\/em> (2012). In 2010, she won 1st Prize at the BBC BUZZ Photo Contest<\/strong>, and in the following years her photography continued to make waves in global competitions.<\/p>\n She has achieved top honors such as the PSA Gold Award<\/strong> in France, GPU Gold Chair\u2019s Choice<\/strong> in New York, Salon Gold<\/strong> in Estonia, and recognition at the International Photographic Salon of Japan<\/strong>. She was named Amateur Photographer of the Year 2011<\/strong> and has received awards across continents\u2014from Europe and Asia to North America and Australia.<\/p>\n Her remarkable consistency is reflected in accolades from institutions such as the Photographic Society of America (PSA), Global Photographic Union (GPU), and Federation Internationale de l\u2019Art Photographique (FIAP).<\/p>\n Exhibitions and Showcases<\/strong><\/p>\n Beyond competitions, Naima\u2019s works have been displayed in exhibitions worldwide. She has held two solo exhibitions<\/strong>, organized by Asiatic360 and inaugurated by Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Honorable Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament. She also presented her work at Monchobi-2<\/em> at the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Chittagong, supported by the Embassy of France in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n Her photographs have appeared in group exhibitions across France, Japan, USA, Estonia, India, Nepal, Kenya, Georgia, Serbia, Singapore, and Australia<\/strong>. Through these showcases, her storytelling has connected with audiences across diverse cultures and contexts.<\/p>\n Learning and Sharing<\/strong><\/p>\n Naima\u2019s commitment to her craft is grounded in continuous learning. She has attended workshops on reportage photography organized by Oslo University College and Photo Art Institute, Chattogram, as well as specialized training in street photography with First Light Institute. She also trained under the Rural Visual Journalism Network (RVJN)<\/strong>, organized by DRIK News, which strengthened her ability to document social realities with integrity.<\/p>\n A Vision Through the Lens<\/strong><\/p>\n For Naima, photography is both adventure and reflection. She often seeks out places \u201cwhere exciting things happen,\u201d using her camera as a bridge between personal curiosity and universal human stories. Her visual narratives\u2014such as Covid-19<\/em>, Beauty Parlour<\/em>, and Step Mother<\/em>\u2014shed light on untold realities, giving space to voices that are too often left unheard.<\/p>\n Her style balances the documentary with the artistic, allowing viewers to feel the immediacy of a moment while also reflecting on its deeper meaning.
